Trinity Baptist Church worshiped together for the first time on Sunday, October 21, 1956 with 87 charter members. The church was planted in response to a need for a church in this growing section of Sweetwater. The name “Trinity” denotes one of our principle beliefs; the mystery of the union of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in one Divine nature.
Over these years, Trinity has been blessed by many opportunities to serve our community and our world. Mission efforts from local to international have helped us to keep our charge to serve. Past mission destinations have included Brazil, the Texas Gulf Coast, the New Orleans area (after Hurricane Katrina), the Navajo Reservations of Gallup, New Mexico, South Texas Children’s Home near Rockport, Texas, and the ROC in Garland, TX. Our mission efforts also include our partnering with missionary families to Mexico, Macedonia, Laos, Rwanda, and local Sweetwater mission focus at The Shop (Sweetwater House of Peace).
The Trinity family held our first service in the new building on Easter morning in April 1958. In recent years, Trinity has remodeled and updated the building from the front door to the back door. In 2012, the church completed construction of our Family Life Center, which houses a new kitchen and restroom facilities and a spacious activity room/fellowship hall. We love to see this space utilized by our community and filled with kids every week!
In recent years our family has experienced tremendous blessings. Our congregation has seen wonderful growth both spiritually and numerically. We are humbled by God's grace toward us and we believe key ingredients to maintaining what we've been entrusted are the love and unity we work hard to maintain. Being family to each other has made Trinity the church we are today, and helps us to celebrate and better utilize our giftedness and diversity. We celebrate what God has given us through His amazing grace!
Trinity is a special family. Our blessed past has given us a strong foundation on which to build. Our promising future gives us a wonderful hope and excitement for the blessings to come. It is our prayer that God be glorified in all we do and our actions bless others now and for generations.
